Embrace peace during elections, Rotary boss advises Nigerians

The District Governor, Rotary International District 9110, Omotunde Lawson, has admonished political parties and individuals to shun rancor and disunity in the forthcoming elections.

Lawson made the submission at the 2022 family of rotary funfair tagged ‘Imaginative funfair’, on Saturday.

The District Governor said, “One of the areas of focus for the rotary is peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and resolution. This year, we have different clubs showcased and a novelty football match tagged ‘Play for Peace’. We are peace-loving people and we want to show the world that we are apolitical, we don’t belong to any political party. If you see our backdrop, the logo of each political party is there, to show that we are for everyone and to plead to everyone to embrace peace and remove rancor and disunity. We need to come together as one family, one community, and one country.

“People have become apprehensive because of our current political climes, that is why we in our little way are advocating for peace in the coming elections. Who knows? What we do here today might be a food for thought for all political parties and individuals to ensure that they maintain peace and order in the forthcoming elections.“

Lawson noted that the annual event was for Rotarians and their families to celebrate with each other and network.

She said, “Rotary is a family, it is made up of Rotarians, their families, and friends. Annually, after a lot of community service, after we have expended our talent, treasure, and time serving humanity, this is the time we have for ourselves to celebrate the joy we have put on the faces of the less privileged. As a rotary family, we come together during this period to have fun, create awareness, and network.

The past President, Rotary Club of Ota, Funke Salau, in her welcome address, expressed her gratitude to the District Governor and enjoined the Rotarians to felicitate with one other

She said, “I feel highly privileged to serve as the Chairman of the 2022-2023 Family of the Rotary programme, tagged; ‘Koseleri Imaginative Funfair.’ I want to thank the District Governor, Rotarian Omotunde Lawson, for giving me this opportunity.

“Distinguished Rotary leaders, families of Rotary, guests, and friends, this event will afford us another opportunity to felicitate with each other, share, and spread love among ourselves.”

Augustine Eguavoen Did A Fine Job As Super Eagles Coach

By now it is no news to any Nigerian sports fan, that Augustin Eguavoen and his entire team have been relieved of their duties at the helm of affairs of the Nigerian National team. Most Nigerians are happy with this development, with some claiming that his immediate predecessor, Gernot Rohr would have delivered better results. However, a simple analysis of events will clearly demonstrate that Eguavoen did a fine enough job given the circumstances. I will attempt to undertake this analysis by demonstrating, first that Eguavoen has a better record than one might realize, and secondly by comparing the performance of his Super Eagles with that of Afcon winners, Senegal, and runners-up Egypt. When Gernot Rohr was sacked a few weeks to the Afcon, knowledgeable sportspersons decried the move, citing the difficulty any new coach would face in setting up the team to play to his own patterns. In analyzing Eguavoen, therefore, it must first be understood that the new boss was operating unde...

THE HISTORY OF CORPORATE IDENTITY

THE HISTORY OF CORPORATE IDENTITY     In 1996, Graphic Design Legend Paul Rand declared “the greatest living graphic designer”—it was yet another ‘feather in the cap’ for him, and one of many during a long and colorful career that would make any present day designer envious. But more so when the acclamation comes from a visionary like Steve Jobs. In fact, it was Paul Rand’s dedication to treating design as a function of business that helped Steve Jobs’ Apple to become the design-leading powerhouse that it is today.   In 1986, Rand was hired to create a logo for Jobs, reportedly for a fee of $100,000. But long before that—back in the 1950s—he had already begun to pave the way for design systems, and the notion of corporate identity.   Many consider Rand to be the father of modern graphic design—the man who introduced the idea that commercial art could, and should, have both a strong visual appeal and an important functional role in the world of mo...
