Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has stated her willingness to unite the warring factions of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State. Her revelation, which she posted on Instagram, comes after months of fierce competition for the state’s APC governorship ticket. The PUNCH reported that Senator Aishatu Binani’s election as the APC gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa in May 2022 created a controversy, with her main competitor, former head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Nuhu Ribadu, disputing the outcome and heading for court. As a result, the Adamawa APC was divided into two groups, with some backing Ribadu and others siding with Binani. The Federal High Court in September nullified the primary election, saying the APC had no governorship candidate in the state. However, the APC as well as Binani and Ribadu appealed the judgment.
