‘Yahoo boys’ abduct colleague for taking 91% fraud share

  Men of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued a suspected Internet fraudster, Haruna Usman, abducted by his colleagues for withholding proceeds of their crime. Our correspondent gathered that the kidnapped fraudster reportedly released N2,200,000 to other members of his syndicate out of the N26,437,950 allegedly obtained from a victim in the state. The sum taken by the suspect represents 91.7 per cent of the total sum. The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Thursday, said the four suspected Internet fraudsters, also known as Yahoo Boys, were arrested on Monday. He said the suspects — Agbe Simeon, Messiah Nicky, Oladapo Dolapo and Yetunde Shonola — were arrested at Orile Imo village, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state. Jigawa: Fire razes hut, consumes mother, two daughters

  A 30-year-old mother, Khadija Ibrahim, and her two daughters have died in a fire incident at Tsangarwa village,  Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State. According to a statement issued by the spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, in the state, Adamu Shehu, the incident happened on Friday at about 11pm when fire razed a hut while the victims were asleep. The statement said, “The fire incident engulfed a hut, where the 30-year-old mother was sleeping alongside with her two daughters, four-year-old Aisha  and two-year-old Rabi. The statement further explained that the mother and her daughters were completely consumed by the inferno, as none of the victims was rescued alive. “The cause of the fire was unknown, but neighbours said it might not be unconnected to a charcoal fire that was meant to keep them warm,’’ the statement said. Mbappe scores second hat-trick in World Cup final

  France’s Kylian Mbappe has emerged as the second player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final after lifting his team to level in the ongoing Mundial in Qatar. Mbappe converted an 80th-minute penalty and equalised with an acrobatic volley a minute later and another penalty in the 118th minute. ICPC to appeal ex-Bauchi gov aide’s acquittal

  The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has said it will appeal the ruling of the Bauchi State High Court which discharged and acquitted Sanusi Isa, a former personal assistant to ex-governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda. The anti-graft agency’s spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, revealed this in a Sunday statement obtained by our correspondent. Ogugua noted that the Chief Judge of Bauchi State and the presiding judge in the case, Justice Rabi Umar, had on December 13, 2022, discharged and acquitted Sanusi Isa of all the 36 counts against him bordering on corruption, and ordered the release of all his properties in the possession of the ICPC. She added that the ICPC traced and seized 220 flats, located in 20 estates, belonging to Sanusi Isa in 2017. Fayose, Olujimi’s names missing as PDP names Ekiti PCC

  The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, on Sunday, named the Ekiti State presidential campaign council ahead of the 2023 General Elections. The PDP governorship candidate in the just concluded election that was held in the state, Bisi Kolawole, was named the Chairman of the council and Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe was named as the Vice Chairman. Meanwhile, the former governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose and the senator representing Ekiti South Constituency, Biodun Olujimi, were not included in the list.
