Obosi community president’s killers identified, says monarch

The traditional ruler of Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Chidubem Iweka III, has revealed that he and the community know the identities of the killers of their town union leader.

PUNCH Metro had earlier reported the gruesome murder of the President-General of the community, Ike Okolo.

The monarch while speaking with newsmen in his palace said himself, as well as his cabinet members and other law-abiding indigenes of the community, knew that it was the same notorious cultists that assassinated the President-General of Obosi town union, Ikechukwu Okolo, in cold blood on January 2,  which created tension in the area throughout for two days.

He maintained that the activities of the cultists have become too inexplicable that the law-abiding indigenes of Obosi no longer sleep with their two eyes closed, to the extent that they kill and maim people almost on daily basis.

Igwe Iweka said that they have submitted the names of the bandits and the rampaging cultists to law enforcement agencies for arrest, questioning and possibly halting of their nefarious activities in the area.

Speaking further, the monarch appealed to the state governor, Chukwuma Soludo, and heads of security agencies in the state, including the police, DSS, Army, and Navy to come to their rescue before these deadly cultists wipe out the entire citizenry, particularly now that the royal cabinet in conjunction with the town union has submitted the names of the bandits to the enforcement agencies.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, told newsmen on Wednesday via SMS that the assassins were yet to be arrested, adding that investigations were still ongoing.

Augustine Eguavoen Did A Fine Job As Super Eagles Coach

By now it is no news to any Nigerian sports fan, that Augustin Eguavoen and his entire team have been relieved of their duties at the helm of affairs of the Nigerian National team. Most Nigerians are happy with this development, with some claiming that his immediate predecessor, Gernot Rohr would have delivered better results. However, a simple analysis of events will clearly demonstrate that Eguavoen did a fine enough job given the circumstances. I will attempt to undertake this analysis by demonstrating, first that Eguavoen has a better record than one might realize, and secondly by comparing the performance of his Super Eagles with that of Afcon winners, Senegal, and runners-up Egypt. When Gernot Rohr was sacked a few weeks to the Afcon, knowledgeable sportspersons decried the move, citing the difficulty any new coach would face in setting up the team to play to his own patterns. In analyzing Eguavoen, therefore, it must first be understood that the new boss was operating unde...
