Sit-at-home: Ekpa acted like paid agent – Kanu’s brother

The younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Bafra, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, has accused Simon Ekpa of behaving like a paid agent.

This accusation followed the declaration of a 5-day sit-at-home purportedly by IPOB this week in a viral video by a self-acclaimed leader of the group, Simon Ekpa, ordering people to observe the sit-at-home from December 9 to 14.

The order had triggered attacks in several places in the South-East.

Condemning the order, Emmanuel said, “Whatever has happened was completely wrong.

“There was no order issued by the leader of IPOB.”

He said Ekpa’s activities and approach to agitation for Biafra had clearly given him out as a paid agent.

“It beats my imagination that somebody who claims to be fighting for the cause of Ndigbo will at the same time be engaging in activities injurious to the same people,” he said.

Ekpa, he further stated, could not claim to be championing the Biafra cause, when in fact, he was making life painful and miserable for the people.

“There is no doubt he is working for some people because no true-blooded Igbo will do something to jeopardise the lives of Igbo people.

“The leader has always said that he cannot take a life because he doesn’t give life. So, why will people take other people’s lives?

“Why will you kill the same people you say you are fighting to protect? It doesn’t make sense.

“It is just obvious that Ekpa is working for some people to destroy what the leader has built over the years.

“Why would he give a sit-at-home order? Under whose authority will he do that?

“My brother (Nnamdi Kanu) told me clearly that he did not authorise any person or group to order for sit-at-home.

“So, why do that? Who is he doing it to impress? It is only a paid agent that will behave the way he does,” Prince Kanu said.

Augustine Eguavoen Did A Fine Job As Super Eagles Coach

By now it is no news to any Nigerian sports fan, that Augustin Eguavoen and his entire team have been relieved of their duties at the helm of affairs of the Nigerian National team. Most Nigerians are happy with this development, with some claiming that his immediate predecessor, Gernot Rohr would have delivered better results. However, a simple analysis of events will clearly demonstrate that Eguavoen did a fine enough job given the circumstances. I will attempt to undertake this analysis by demonstrating, first that Eguavoen has a better record than one might realize, and secondly by comparing the performance of his Super Eagles with that of Afcon winners, Senegal, and runners-up Egypt. When Gernot Rohr was sacked a few weeks to the Afcon, knowledgeable sportspersons decried the move, citing the difficulty any new coach would face in setting up the team to play to his own patterns. In analyzing Eguavoen, therefore, it must first be understood that the new boss was operating unde...
