How I will end insecurity in South-East- Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, said that his administration if elected the next president of Nigeria, would end insecurity ravaging the southeastern part of the country.

Atiku who spoke in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during the PDP presidential campaign rally in the state, said his administration would give the Igbo people a sense of belonging.

The former Vice President said that his administration would engage with the Igbo youths, especially on the issue of restructuring and uniting all parts of the country.

According to him, he was the only presidential candidate who had the experience to unify the country and rescue it from bad governance which he said had become the lot of the nation under the watch of the All Progressives Congress.

He said, “If I become the next president, consider it that Imo is in charge of the presidency. It is your own presidency. I will come here, sit down with you and work out a settlement. I have been associated with Igbo nation for many decades. Trading will pick up again in South-East. I will set out 10 billion dollars to empower youth, women and men in businesses. We will provide jobs and businesses.

“The entire south-East is yearning for restructuring of this country. I will make sure that power and resources are devolved to the federating units. I assure you that. I swear to God, I will do it again because I have the experience. Don’t vote for any other party other than the PDP.

“Honestly, I am impressed with the turnout in Imo State. My fellow people from Imo State, God bless you all and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

A former governor of the state, Achike Udenwa, urged the people of the state to vote for the PDP.

The national secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu, who is an indigene of the state, said Atiku was going to win in the state.

The governor of Sokoto State and the Director-General of the PDP presidential campaign council, Aminu Tambuwal, said Atiku’s administration would end insecurity, poverty and bad governance allegedly caused by the APC administration.

The governor of Akwa Ibom State and chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Udom Emmanuel, said the PDP administration would restore sanity in government.

The immediate past governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, said the people of the state would vote for Atiku.

Augustine Eguavoen Did A Fine Job As Super Eagles Coach

By now it is no news to any Nigerian sports fan, that Augustin Eguavoen and his entire team have been relieved of their duties at the helm of affairs of the Nigerian National team. Most Nigerians are happy with this development, with some claiming that his immediate predecessor, Gernot Rohr would have delivered better results. However, a simple analysis of events will clearly demonstrate that Eguavoen did a fine enough job given the circumstances. I will attempt to undertake this analysis by demonstrating, first that Eguavoen has a better record than one might realize, and secondly by comparing the performance of his Super Eagles with that of Afcon winners, Senegal, and runners-up Egypt. When Gernot Rohr was sacked a few weeks to the Afcon, knowledgeable sportspersons decried the move, citing the difficulty any new coach would face in setting up the team to play to his own patterns. In analyzing Eguavoen, therefore, it must first be understood that the new boss was operating unde...
