Terrorists attack Katsina DPO family, kill brother, mother

Terrorists on Monday night attacked the family house of the Divisional Police Officer for Dutsi under Katsina State Police Command, killing his mother and younger brother in the process.

Details of the attack were still sketchy on Tuesday, although the spokesman for the command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident.

Isah said, “The incident is true but we don’t have details yet. Our officers have already gone there but I cannot say more than this for now.”

It was learnt that the DPO whose name was not disclosed for security reasons was said to be on duty when the terrorists stormed his family house.

Sources also disclosed that the two victims were buried according to Islamic rites on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested a 20-year-old man, Murtala Amme, who allegedly belonged to the camp of a notorious terrorist said to be on the police wanted list, one Kamilu Buzaru.

The police alleged that members of the camp were those terrorising communities in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

Also, a 35- year-old man, Ibrahim Dayyabu, of Gobirawa village, Maidabino, Danmusa Local Government Area, alleged to be a terrorist is now in the police net.

Dayyabu was arrested on November 23, 2022, by a police patrol team attached to the Kankara Division.

He was alleged to be riding a brand new Honda motorcycle and on his way to the forest to supply the motorcycle to other terrorists when the patrol team accosted and arrested him.

The police spokesman added that “in the course of investigation, Dayyabu confessed to belong to the camp of  a notorious terrorist known as Mani Doro and has brought over seven motorcycles for the terrorists. Investigation is ongoing on his case.”

Augustine Eguavoen Did A Fine Job As Super Eagles Coach

By now it is no news to any Nigerian sports fan, that Augustin Eguavoen and his entire team have been relieved of their duties at the helm of affairs of the Nigerian National team. Most Nigerians are happy with this development, with some claiming that his immediate predecessor, Gernot Rohr would have delivered better results. However, a simple analysis of events will clearly demonstrate that Eguavoen did a fine enough job given the circumstances. I will attempt to undertake this analysis by demonstrating, first that Eguavoen has a better record than one might realize, and secondly by comparing the performance of his Super Eagles with that of Afcon winners, Senegal, and runners-up Egypt. When Gernot Rohr was sacked a few weeks to the Afcon, knowledgeable sportspersons decried the move, citing the difficulty any new coach would face in setting up the team to play to his own patterns. In analyzing Eguavoen, therefore, it must first be understood that the new boss was operating unde...
