Police rescue abducted Zamfara woman in Katsina

 The Katsina State Police Command has rescued a 32-year-old woman kidnapped in Zamfara State after 15 days in captivity.

According to the command, the woman, Maimuna Muhammed Maiturare was kidnapped in Gusau, Zamfara state and was later abandoned somewhere in the Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State where she was rescued.

A statement by the deputy spokesman for the command, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, in Katsina, on Friday, revealed that operatives of the command in the council who were informed of the woman’s predicament rescued her from where she was abandoned.

The operatives reportedly took her to a hospital where she was given medical attention.

The statement read, “On November 23, 2022, at about 6:30 pm, the command succeeded in rescuing one Maimuna Muhammed Mai Turare, ‘f’, age 32 years, of Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The fact of the case is that information was received at the Kurfi Divisional Police Headquarters via a phone call from a good samaritan that a woman was sighted laying helplessly at Batsari Junction, Kurfi LGA. Immediately, detectives were dispatched to the scene, and the victim was evacuated and rushed to General Hospital Kurfi for medical attention, where she was admitted, treated, and later discharged. 

“Upon interview, the victim stated that she was kidnapped from her residence in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State by kidnappers and has been in captivity for about 15 days until she was abandoned and rescued by the police. As the investigation is ongoing, efforts are on top gear to reunite the victim with her family.”

The Command also revealed that its operatives had arrested a 30-year-old man, Danlami Musa, who allegedly raped his neighbour’s daughter.

According to the command, the victim’s father reported the incident to the police.

The Command’s spokesman explained, “On November 16, 2022, at about 2 p.m, the command succeeded in arresting one Danlami Musa, ‘m’, age 30 years old, of Kadisau village via Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State, a notorious suspected rapist. 

“Nemesis caught up with the suspect when a report was received through one Nasiru Abubakar, “m,” of the same address that on the same date at about 10 a.m, the suspect (Danlami Musa) accosted his daughter, name withheld, age 17 years old, of the same address, while on her way to the farm, dragged her into a nearby farm, stuffed her mouth with her hijab and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim. An investigation is still ongoing.”
