The Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, foremost Urhobo sociocultural group has lost one of its foremost women leaders, Chief (Mrs.) Lady Agbaza, nee Jedia who passed on at 95. The sad news was broken yesterday in Warri by the family spokesperson, Mr Benson Jefia in a press release. The Imo State Police Command on Friday said it arrested and paraded a 50-year-old-man, one Simeon Onigbo, suspected to be a bomb manufacturer for gunmen used in attacking police stations and government facilities in the state. The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Micheal Abattam, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri. The command said it on Wednesday uncovered and raided the bomb manufacturing camp at Uba Umuaka in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, based on the credible information that was made available to the Police. However, he said the suspect had mentioned the names of other suspects in the bomb manufacturing within and outside the states. “In-Line with the Commissioner of Police strategy in stemming crime, the Command’s Tactical Teams, following credible intelligence received on 20/4/2022 at about 1700hours, revealed the hideout where they are manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices used in attacking Police Stations and Government facilities in the state.

At least 20 persons have been reportedly killed in what appeared another coordinated attack on Benue communities in Waya, Jato-Aka, Turan and villages in Mbabuande and Mbapa Council Wards of Kwande and Gwer West Local Areas of the state respectively. THE Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, last night joined his ancestors. He was 83 years old and the longest reigning Alaafin ever, having ruled for over 52 years. Oba Lamidi, the third from the Alowodu Ruling House, joined his ancestors at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State. His remains were said to have been moved to Oyo town in the earliest part of Saturday and were received at Idi-Igba by his first son, Prince Tunde and his other siblings. The decision was reached at the party’s 11th National Executive Committee meeting holding at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja.
