Aisha Buhari To Testify Against Aminu Adamu In Court

  Nigeria’s first lady, Aisha Buhari, is billed to testify against Aminu Adamu, a student of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, for allegedly defaming her . Mr Adamu, 24, was alleged to have published a defamatory statement on his Twitter handle against Mrs Buhari. In the allegedly offending tweet, Mr Adamu, who is a final year student studying Environmental Management, posted a rotund picture of the first lady with a caption in Hausa saying,  “ Mama is feeding fat on poor people’s money.” The tweet was posted on 8 June but Mr Adamu, trailed by a team of detectives, was arrested in Dutse, North-West Nigeria, on 18 November and whisked to Abuja. After nearly two weeks in detention, Mr Adamu was arraigned on Tuesday before a judge, Yusuf Halilu, of the Federal Capital Territory High Court at Maitama, where he pleaded not guilty and was remanded at Suleja prison in Niger State. Only 33 rapists have been convicted in over 11,000 cases – FG

  Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen has disclosed that only 33 rapists have been convicted in the country in 11,000 cases.   Speaking on Wednesday, November 30, at the orange ceremony and lighting of the UN house, which took place in commemoration of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, Tallen further revealed that  401 of the cases were fatal cases; while 592 close and 3507 open. According to the Minister, harmful cultural stereotypes, failures of law enforcement to investigate rape cases, toxic misogyny and insufficient support for survivors had created a culture of silence and impunity that continued to fail hundreds of women and girls every year.   Tallen added;    “Concrete actions have not been taken to tackle the rape crisis in Nigeria with the seriousness it deserves.   The Mexican Football Federation has announced that first-team boss Gerardo 'Tata' Martino has left his role after the  North American nation failed to make it out of the World Cup group stage for the first time since 1978   The legendary Martino was axed following Mexico's frustrating campaign in Qatar, which saw them eliminated in the group stages. NAFDAC arraigns trader over importation of fake seasonings

  A 41-year-old trader, Nnabueze Chibuike, on Wednesday, was arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Benin, Edo State on two-court charges of alleged possession and importation of large quantities of Mivina Chicken seasonings. The case between the Federal Republic of Nigeria as (Complainant) and Nnabueze Chibuike, as the Defendant came up for the first hearing, and has a suit No: FHC/B/195C/2022. The accused was brought before Presiding Judge, Justice S.M Shuaibu and he pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge. We Have Only Two Tribes In Nigeria - Peter Okoye

  Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, professionally known as Psquare, has revealed that Nigeria consists of two tribes. On Tuesday, Peter claimed on his Twitter page that Nigeria currently has two tribes: rich and poor. According to him, the number of the poor is overwhelmingly higher than the number of the rich. He stated that the poor have rejected banding together to fight for their liberation, which is why the rich have been able to accomplish their achievement. He urged Nigerians, especially those who were eligible to vote, to exercise sound judgment when casting their ballots in the next general elections. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson returns to his hometown 7-Eleven and buys every snickers bar to pay back for all the ones he stole as a kid

  Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson returned to the Hawaii 7-Eleven, where he claimed he used to steal a Snickers "every day" as a 14-year-old, and bought out all of the chocolate bars there.   The actor joked afterward that he had "exorcised this damn chocolate demon". Football legend, Pele, 82, is hospitalised over swollen body, heart issues

  Legendary Brazilian footballer, Pele has reportedly been admitted to the hospital with swelling all over his body and heart failure issues.   The 82-year-old, currently undergoing metastatic cancer treatment, went into the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo on Tuesday November 29, for an unscheduled visit, according to ESPN Brasil, which describes Pele's condition as 'debilitated'. After being taken by his wife Marcia Aoki and a carer to the hospital, medical staff confirmed his condition of anasarca (general swelling), an edematous syndrome (general edema), and identified 'decompensated heart failure', which causes functional limitation of the heart.    It is also reported that his chemotherapy treatment is no longer working. He was also diagnosed with mental confusion upon entering the hospital, where he became restless.   Wendy Williams' ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, has filed legal paperwork, demanding that the former talk show host resume making monthly payments to him.   It’s unclear what exact payments Kevin is supposed to be receiving from Wendy, given that they both agreed to cover their own attorney fees and not pay any alimony.   The Nigerian National Merit Award has stated that the 32 nominees for the Nigerian National Order of Merit’s 2022 edition were not qualified. The quasi-academic agency said the nominees did not pass the prerequisite exam. A total of 32 nominations/applications for the award were received, according to Prof. Shakarau Aku, Chairman of the NNMA Governing Board , who spoke to the media in Abuja, PUNCH reports. He said there were  14 applicants in the humanities, nine in medicine, five in engineering and technology, and four in the sciences. Aku said, “ The nominations went through the standard assessment process. However, after going through the rigorous process of assessment exercise, none was adjudged to have merited the Nigerian National Order of Merit Award for this year 2022.
